Celtic Cross

Some time ago, my friend Jeremy told me about his natural light studio. I was intrigued as he described how the large windows provide excellent indirect lighting for photography. As I thought about this more I decided to give it a try at home with some still life photos.

I set up this shot near a window in a slightly darkened room. I used a shutter release cable along with a tripod to allow a slow enough shutter speed to capture the existing light. The red glow on the side of the cross was from a nearby candle which was included in some of my shots.

I love this bold image because it serves as a reminder of Jesus’ proclamation in John 8:12.

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness.”
