I enjoy visiting Victor’s farm because I always find interesting things to photograph. Last winter I stopped by to photograph his red deer in the freshly fallen snow. Unfortunately the deer were spooked and kept running away. According to Victor they thought I acted and smelled strange, so he suggested we try shooting from his barn.
I captured a few decent photos of the deer by shooting through the partially opened doors in the loft. As we stood there talking about the deer, I noticed how the light spilled in through the doors creating the perfect lighting conditions for a portrait. Without hesitation I turned the camera on my friend and captured some of my favorite images to date.
It is no wonder that photographers like barns for portraits because of the way light shines into the dark and gently illuminates the subjects.
