It has been a few years since I took lightning photos, because of a lightning strike way to close for comfort. This time around the storm was far enough in the distance for safety yet close enough to photograph.
The trick with lightning shots is to keep your shutter open until the lightning strikes and then close it. All you need is a tripod and a shutter release cable.
I was fortunate to capture this strike directly behind my favorite tree on Peace Road near Leola, PA.
